When I am reading on a phone especially, I see how long of a scroll it is before I read it. Shorter paragraphs cause a longer scroll time. If the article is long, the more paragraphs result in a worse upfront impression for me. There’s also the way readers absorb information that’s sectioned. I treat a paragraph as a full idea. If the idea is broken up into multiple paragraphs, then sometimes I instinctively treat the paragraphs as disjointed ideas. Although, for SEO purposes, shorter paragraphs prevail and many people do treat shorter paragraphs as less daunting.
