By far the best results analyst and report-writer I know of is Katie Paine. She sees what many people don’t, and she measures PR success by what will SUCCEED for the CEO, not just make him or her happy.

If you use Katie Paine DURING the program to guide you in judging what’s working better and not working as well, her measurements can guide you to
make changes so you achieve more.

Welcome to the club if at the end of even a highly successful program, you realize you should have done something differently and more successfully. But with Paine’s guidance you are more likely to know as you go rather than knowing after the time when results measurement could have guided you to doing it better.

Some accounts may be underinformed and sometimes even arrogant in evaluating PR results and using them as a guide for planning future PR work. Our Arab allies may especially be in this boat, hiring some of the best PR firms on earth–Publicis, Qorvis, APCO and others–but then (this is my guess, not knowledge) not taking the advice and not getting the benefit that the advice could have brought in.

Like the BIG need of our Arab allies is to get not just meetings with Washington’s “important people” (who actually will listen BRIEFLY to almost anyone) but getting into NATO and protected against Iran by the mutual defense agreement America has with all NATO members.

The way to do this, great PR firms almost certainly counsel, would be to sponsor some massive scientific research project–like a way to feed the world’s hungry or protect our environment–to make the world safer and get the sponsor loved by 100 or 200 million Americans. But so far the Arabs haven’t done this (and haven’t gotten into NATO).

I can imagine a king or a prince thinking “I’m royalty, these people WORK for me, and they are trying to tell ME what to do?” Maybe they need Paine where it will do them the most good.
